The E-Cat: I’m Convinced It’s Real

I believe the E-Cat is real. To my mind, there is no alternative theory that holds any water now. The demonstration held at the Latina racetrack on September 27th, which I found to be very impressive, solidified a lot in my mind. It showed that the E-Cat was powerful, practical and useful.

At this point I think there are only three alternatives.

  1. Andrea Rossi is lying about the E-Cat and he is deceiving people. He hid a conventional energy source inside the Twizy EV, pretending he has developed a new energy source, when he really hasn’t.
  2. Rossi is deluded; he thinks that he has developed a new energy source, but somehow he is mistaken.
  3. It is indeed real. During the Latina test, the E-Cat charged the battery for over 6 hours, and actually increased the state of charge over that time. Rossi is trying to commercialize his technology while guarding his trade secrets, and he is acting rationally for a businessman in his position.

I personally reject 1, because it doesn’t with my experience, and everything I have learned about Andrea Rossi and the E-Cat over many years now. I have followed the E-Cat story closely and have gotten to know Rossi personally. I try to make judgments, decisions and assessments based on my experience, intuition and relationships. Personally, my assessment is that he did not put a battery or fuel cell or hidden motor in the back seat of the Twizy. I’ve been in his laboratories, I’ve talked with him at length on many occasions, he’s a serious guy, an extremely hard worker and dedicated student of physics. And we have testimonies of people who have worked closely with him over the years, from Sergio Focardi, to now Maico Marzocchi. None of his collaborators has come forward and accused him of being a fraud.

2 is out of the question now. You can’t drive an electric vehicle 200 km for six hours based on a measurement error.

So I go with 3. And if it is real, I think it should be known about because of the important implications and many potential benefits it has for our world., and I should do things to help people learn about it. Andrea Rossi has decided on his business model, and I don’t think he is going to change his approach. Many people want him to give away his secrets, and open source his technology. He has explained many times he won’t do that, that’s his decision and I think we have to live with that reality.

However, I don’t think the E-Cat coming to fruition and becoming a ubiquitous technology is by any means a done deal. I see the Latina demonstration as basically a starting point. The starter’s gun went off, and the race began. I think Leonardo Corporation will need to build on this event to get the traction they will need to succeed commercially.

With a technology as consequential as the E-Cat there are going to be many difficulties in bringing it to light. Rossi’s business model is based on keeping trade secrets, so he is going to be guarded about revealing too much. That will not help overcome the natural skepticism that people will have. I think there will be other obstacles to deal with, too. If the E-Cat succeeds it will affect a lot of other interests, so I think there will be negative pressure on Rossi from various parties.

Obviously, many people will disagree with my conclusions, and I accept that. I’m interested in trying to help generate awareness a new technology come to light that can bring important benefits to the world. There are precious few placed where the E-Cat is even mentioned, and that is the reason I started this website back in 2011. I don’t want the site to become a home for people who accuse Andrea Rossi of being a fraud. I will remind readers the commenting of the site which can be found here.
