A new tweet on the Leonardo Corporation X account provides information about how E-Cat NGU units can be recycled and replaced after they come to the end of their expected operational lifetime.
The tweet reads:
E-Cat NGU Recycling and Replacement:
After 10 years of operational use (87,000 hours) E-Cat NGU power cells can be returned, where they will be fully recycled. Customers can then replace the returned NGU power cells for 30 % of the original purchase cost

I think this policy can give some comfort to people who wonder what would happen after 10 years and their E-Cat stops working after they have made a hefty investment in their cells.
Leonardo says that the expected lifetime of an E-Cat NGU power cell is 100,000 operational hours, which is over 11 years, but in reality they won’t know what the exact lifetime is in real-world usage until they have run it for that long. Their projection is based on theoretical calculations.
I think this will also encourage users to think about how long they keep their E-Cats running. The less you use it, the longer it will last. If people realize it won’t last forever they will motivated to only use it when they actually need it.
