May 2026 E-Cat Update

Here is an update on the latest developments towards the commercialization of E-Cat technology.

Industrial Plants

Based on extensive research and development, and after experimenting with many E-Cat reactors we have manufactured, we have determined that for the sake of safety and reliability, the E-Cat for the time being can obtain self-sustain mode (SSM) only with thermoelectric facilities of industrial scale (MW).

SSM means that the E-Cat is able to generate enough excess electricity to power itself, meaning there is no need to connect it to an external power source. In the industrial plants, E-Cat assemblies generate
electricity which is turned into heat by means of a series of electrical resistors that activate the Carnot cycle. The Carnot cycle transforms heat into electricity. Some of this electricity is used to maintain the E-Cat reaction, while the rest is available for normal use.

Leonardo Corporation and its global licensee will be developing industrial thermoelectric plants powered by E-Cats to generate electricity that can connect to the electrical grid, and for other purposes.

In addition to the industrial plants, Leonardo Corporation and its global licensee will introduce a range of efficient E-Cat heaters for commercial and household use.

Heaters

These heaters will not use SSM; they will plug into normal electrical outlets with AC 110/220 V.  A battery can also be a power source, through a normal inverter, provided the battery assembly has the due power for the specific purpose.

In these heaters, E-Cat modules generate electricity which will be turned into heat by means of electrical resistors. We can assure now that the COP is very high, but we prefer to give the exact number when we will make a public demonstration.

These industrial and household products will be our first product offerings for which we have already obtained safety certifications. Our R&D is proceeding to make possible SSM directly without integrating the E-Cat process with the Carnot cycle for both large plants and small assemblies.

Preorders

Because E-Cat product specifications are changing, preordering is temporarily suspended. We will open up preorders again once the new product range is defined.

All preorders received so far are still on file and are still valid, although the products that will be delivered will be different to the ones originally offered.

When we will be ready to start the deliveries to the clients who placed preorders, we will contact all of them explaining exactly what we are going to deliver and, as it is clearly explained in the preorder form they signed, at that point every Client will be free to choose if to proceed with payment and turn the preorder into a regular order, or cancel the preorder without any penalty, paying nothing. This is why we never accepted any anticipated payment before we will be ready to deliver.

Most of the information in this update has already been shared by Andrea Rossi on the Journal of Nuclear Physics, but the part about the suspension of accepting preorders is new. The products that had been available for preorder were all electricity generators, and those are off the table for now.

Whether E-Cat space heaters become a popular consumer product will depend, I think, on how efficient they are compared to normal electric heaters, and what the cost is. Electric space heaters nowadays are usually not very expensive to buy, but they can be very expensive to run because they use a lot of electricity. It will be interesting to learn just what Andrea Rossi means when he says the COP is ‘very high’.
