Rossi: Activation Energy at Ecat Startup

Here’s a Q&A from the Journal of Nuclear physics that touches on the size of power supply unit (PSU) needed to operate an E-Cat.

Dear Dr. Rossi,

as I understood an older comment of yours, (for some surcharge) I would be able to order a ready made setup like this: 1kW, 230V output, 12V input.

In such a case, what would the input requirements be? A PSU plugged into the grid. But what rating? Would a tiny 1W PSU suffice?

Best,
Milan

Milan:
In a case like this you’d need a PSU plugged to the outlet of the grid with a power of 100 or more W, depending on the energy of activation at the start up of the load.
Warm Regards,
A.R.

From what Andrea Rossi writes here, it sounds like he is saying that there is as need for extra energy when the the Ecat starts up: (“activation at the start up of the load”) Perhaps this also helps explain the need for a grid connection to operate the Ecat. In the example presented here, a 1 kW system would apparently need at least 100 W input, depending on what the load is.
